Lorraine Mahoney CT ABRSM, ATCL
Principal and Westfield Branch Manager
Lorraine Mahoney has developed a reputation throughout the South East of England as a lyric soprano specialising in lighter choral soloistic work and leading roles in musicals. She has a wide ranging performing experience having performed roles such as Maria (“West Side Story”), Michaela (“Carmen”), Julie (“Carousel”) and Eliza (“My Fair Lady”). She trained with Maeliosa Goodale for many years before becoming a qualified teacher and performer herself through Trinity College, London and Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.
Lorraine has won national singing competitions in Glasgow, Blackpool and London and has given many singing recitals across the South of England. In August 2006, Lorraine made her Australian debut with the Perth Concert Band performing “Songs from the Shows” and the Perth Oratorio Choir as Soprano Soloist for John Rutter’s Requiem and Magnificat.
Joanne Manlow
Little Common Branch Manager
Joanne Manlow, a keen singer and dancer since the age of four has recently shown off her excellent performing skills in her portrayal as ‘Dorothy’ in the ‘Wizard of Oz’ at the White Rock Theatre, Hastings.
Joanne performs regularly with The Hastleons, her last show being ‘Camelot’ when she took on the ‘Voice of Nimue’. She has also competed very successfully in the Hastings Musical Festival over the years and in 2006 won the Silver Medal Singing and Folk Song classes.
Joanne started teaching at Theatre Sense in January 2006 at the Westfield branch together with Lorraine & Royah.
Zola Thomas
Hurst Green Branch Manager
Zola has been involved with the Theatre for 23 years. She began dancing and singing locally and has performed many lead roles for societies such as The Hastleons, The B.L.O.D.S and Souls Bared. In 2000 Zola began her professional training with the highly acclaimed Guildford School of Acting (now known as The Conservatoire) and graduated in 2003 with a BA Hons Degree in Theatre.
Since gaining professional status, Zola has performed in the West End, toured extensively with theatre companies throughout the UK and Germany and appeared in several television and motion picture productions. Zola can often be seen in roles for the Stables Theatre Guild in Hastings. She is delighted to be involved with Theatre Sense.
Sheri Copeland
Teacher
Sheri has been a professional performer for 13 years. Before this she spent 2 years with the National Youth Music Theatre and was a member of many amateur dramatic groups, appearing locally in Camelot, Guys & Dolls, West Side Story, Bugsy Malone, Into The Woods and Carousel amongst many others.
Professional roles include: Ghost of Christmas Past in Scrooge The Musical (UK Tour, with Shane Richie), Girl in Kern Goes to Hollywood (Kings Head, Islington), Sandra in Cliff The Musical (West End), Narrator in Joseph (Palladium production, Germany), Robin in Godspell (Lowestoft), Beverly in Disco Crazee (UK Tour), Evita (Norway, with John Barrowman), Alice in Dick Whittington (Bournemouth, with Paul Daniels).
Royah Hamed
Teacher
Royah started teaching at Theatre Sense in January 2006 at the Westfield branch alongside Lorraine and Joanne.
A born performer, she also has regular engagements with The Hastleons, and her roles include “Susan” in “Calamity Jane” and “Gilmer” in “Godspell”. Over the years she has competed throughout East Sussex for both dancing and singing, and has also been in many professional pantomimes.
With her fantastic communication and teaching skills, she gets wonderful results from the pupils of Theatre Sense and is a great asset to have on the teaching staff.
Royah has recently completed her J.S.L.A (Junior Sports Leadership Award), C.S.L.A (Community Sports Leadership Award and D.L.A (Dance Leadership Award).
Keren Keeler-Moore
Teacher
Keren began dancing at the age of 7, studying tap, ballet and stage, and in 1987 joined the June Easther School of Theatre & Dance, taking lessons in Modern dance and Theatre Workshops. An experienced performer, Keren has been in many Variety Shows and Musicals taking lead roles in ‘Bugsy Malone’, ‘Oliver’, ‘The Boyfriend’, ‘Forty Second Street’, ‘Sweet Charity’, ‘Crazy for You’, ‘Oliver’, ‘The Melody Lingers On’, ‘Godspell’ and more recently in The Hastleons production of ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’.
Keren is a qualified ISTD Associate Teacher of Tap and has also taught Jazz, Exercise Classes, Theatre Workshops and Drama. She is delighted to be teaching with Theatre Sense, passing on her acquired theatre skills.
